Meet composer Ainslie Allen

In this series, we present our new composers. We are proud to introduce Ainslie Allen.

Please tell us about yourself and what you do.

Ainslie Allen, independent country artist, mother, daughter, aunty, sister, singer/songwriter from Titahi Bay, Porirua.

I’m currently in the studio recording my debut album which is self-funded and can be pre-purchased from my website, or Facebook page. I’m proud of my Māori background and look at perhaps releasing a te reo album in the future. My dream is to be able to provide for my family on music alone, to sing on the Grand ole opry stage in Nashville, and for my music to help me and my whanau travel the globe and play at the big music festivals around the world. Music and Family come first for me. I’m focused and willing to give my all to fulfil my dreams.

Please choose 2-3 of your works/albums and tell us about them.

My debut EP. The A-Sides were released end of 2013. I’m very proud of this body of work. I have grown as a person and writer since then, and can’t wait to share more music asap.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m working on my debut album. This is a brand new album due for release at the end of the year to tour during our summer. People can pre-order form my website.

Would you like to tell us anything else?

I’m a single mum, I love my son so much, he has helped me become a better human, and I feel he has guided me to focus more on the gifts that God has given me, my writing ability and my voice.
