Resound filmmaker Chris Watson’s attempt to film the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra’s August 2018 performance of Anthony Ritchie’s ‘Viola Concerto No.2’ hit a snag when, due to fog, his plane couldn’t land at Dunedin Airport.  We’re hoping for better luck this year for trips to Dunedin to film works by Anthony, his late father John and a premiere by Peter Adams – see the DSO’s recently-announced 2019 programme:

While we regrettably can’t bring you Resound film of Anthony’s concerto, we did acquire the sound recording and have combined it with Anthony’s score.

Violist Tim Deighton and the strings of the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra were conducted by Richard Davis in this performance from the Kings and Queens Performing Arts Centre.

Audio recorded by Danny Buchanan; film funded by NZ On Air.
